Me and my fiance are planning a road trip for out honeymoon. We live in central GA and want to travel from Savannah to Cape Cod and back. We have 7 days and want to see everything we can. Where should we go, stop, eat, and sleep? Any ideas? We want to travel north on the coast and back south through the mountains! Thanks!

This should be a nice trip for you. Going up the coast a great stop this time of year would be Assateague Island National Seashore to see the feral(wild-ish) horses. This park can first be accessed(driving north) from Chincoteague, Virginia. It is a unique area and my wife and I loved our weekend exploring the island. Keep in mind if you pay the park fee at the Virginia end, it is valid for the Maryland side as well. The southern end is pretty, but you will see less horses. The northern part of the island, accessed from around Berlin, Maryland is also very pretty and the horses will be right outside your window and right on the beach.
With 7 days, I am sure you know you’ll be driving a ton to make it to the Cape and back. If you thought you could make the time I would try and visit Lancaster County in Pennsylvania. It is a unique experience and a beautiful area.
As far as driving back through the mountinas…Skyline Drive begins in Front Royal, Virginia and runs southwest towards Staunton and then becomes the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is very beautiful and unfortunately…the further you drive on it past I-64…the further away you get from the road back to Savannah. But you could in theory take the BRP all the way down to I-77 and the head south towards Winston-Salem/Greensboro and then whichever way you want to get back to Savannah.
